Aerial work across Banff
Film and photography are unaffected by airspace, and the studio can be commissioned throughout the corridor. For aerial work, the airspace governs. Banff National Park. Parks Canada prohibits launching, landing and operating a drone within the park without a permit issued for a restricted purpose. Commercial listing and marketing work is not a purpose those permits are ordinarily granted for.
What that means in practice.
No location in this corridor is flown as routine aerial work. Ground-based film and photography are unaffected, and each page states where aerial work for the area is lawfully made instead.
Aerodromes in play. Banff townsite heliport operations (park-managed), None relevant — park law governs before airspace class, Kananaskis (Village) heliport operations, None within the park boundary. Each has a circuit that is plotted before any aerial work nearby, because uncontrolled airspace is not the same thing as unoccupied airspace.
Mobilisation. Between 1.3 hours and 2 hours from the Calgary studio, depending on the location. The nearer locations sit within a single day's shoot; the furthest are scheduled against the light and the weather window rather than the drive. It is quoted separately from the fee, so the scope for a project here is stated in full before anything is booked.
