Springbank & Elbow Valley
Creative production across Springbank.
Springbank's acreage country and the Elbow Valley corridor — estate homes on five to twenty acres, golf-course enclaves, and long private approaches off Highway 8. Acreage is the hardest residential subject to sell from the ground and the easiest from the air: only altitude shows where the property line actually runs.
Aerial work across Springbank
Film and photography are unaffected by airspace, and the studio can be commissioned throughout the corridor. For aerial work, the airspace governs. This corridor sits inside or immediately adjacent to the Springbank Airport (CYBW) Class C control zone. CYBW is a busy training field, so authorisation here is part of every booking rather than an exception, and it is filed before every shoot.
What that means in practice.
2 locations in this corridor are covered by the studio under the standard RPAS rules. All of them sit in controlled airspace, so for aerial work an Advanced RPAS certificate is the entry requirement here rather than a credential worth mentioning. Film and photography are unaffected.
Aerodromes in play. Springbank Airport (CYBW). Each has a circuit that is plotted before any aerial work nearby, because uncontrolled airspace is not the same thing as unoccupied airspace.
Mobilisation. About 25 minutes from the Calgary studio, for every location covered here. The whole corridor sits within a single day's shoot from Calgary. It is quoted separately from the fee, so the scope for a project here is stated in full before anything is booked.
Conditions across the corridor.
Springbank
Open rolling upland between the Elbow and Bow valleys. Long sightlines west to the front ranges, with shallow coulees breaking the parcels.
Elevated and exposed to the chinook. West wind arrives off the foothills with little to slow it and builds through the afternoon.
Elbow Valley
A wooded river valley with estate lots stepping down toward the Elbow. Dense mature canopy and significant lot-to-lot elevation change.
The valley shelters the floor but accelerates wind across the upper benches — conditions vary sharply over short distances.

Springbank questions, answered.
Does Atom2Adam work across Springbank?
Yes. Atom2Adam makes film, photography and aerial cinematography across Springbank & Elbow Valley — 2 locations covered from the Calgary studio, each with its own page. Aerial work here flies with airspace authorisation in hand. Every project is scoped and quoted before anything is booked.
Do you need airspace authorisation across Springbank?
Yes, for aerial work, across the corridor. Every location covered in Springbank sits in controlled airspace, so aerial cinematography flies under an Advanced RPAS certificate with a NAV CANADA authorisation filed before the shoot date is confirmed. Film and photography on the ground are unaffected.
How far is Springbank from the studio?
About 25 minutes from the Calgary studio, for every location covered here. The whole corridor sits within a single day's shoot from Calgary. Mobilisation is quoted separately from the fee.
What kinds of subject does Springbank call for?
The corridor is made for acreages and estates, luxury homes, farms and ranch land. The subject shapes the shoot: an acreage needs its boundary and approach shown from altitude, and a home needs its street, its light and its scale shown together. Each project is scoped against a written brief.
