Citadel's street names — Citadel Ridge Drive NW, Citadel Peak Bay NW — describe the terrain honestly: high, open ground on the city's northwest shoulder that takes a west wind at full strength. Flight windows close earlier here than the citywide forecast implies. A crew that books to the downtown wind number can arrive to find the gust spread over the ridge already past the airframe's limit.

Citadel bookings carry an on-site wind check and a fallback window in the same trip, with the flight plan favouring the sheltered side of the subject when the gusts run — delivered on the turnaround agreed at booking.

Light. Snow holds longer on this high ground and its north-facing slopes than in lower communities, and chinook melts arrive in stripes — bare south faces beside white shadow lines. Long summer evenings put low gold light along the ridge lines.

Terrain. High rolling ground in the far northwest, with streets following the ridge lines and stormwater ponds — Citadel Pond among them — set into the low points between them.
