The Elbow does Erlton's framing for it: the river runs the community's edge with the Elbow River Pathway tracing the bank, and Stampede Park faces the houses from the far side of the water. Wind. Chinook belt. The valley notch the river cuts here is shallow, so it offers little shelter — the west wind crosses the flats much as it crosses the rest of the inner city, gust spread included.

Airspace. Erlton sits about 11 km from Calgary International — near the charted boundary of the CYYC control zone, close enough that which side of the line a given address falls on decides the paperwork. It is planned as controlled airspace until NAV Drone shows otherwise for the specific site, and where authorisation is required it is filed before the date is booked. On the ground. The river pathway and municipal parkland along the Elbow are covered by Calgary's parks bylaws, which restrict drone takeoff and landing there — launches stage from private property with the client's consent. About 15 minutes from the base. Confirming which side of the control-zone line the address falls on is step one; the drive is never the constraint.
