Dalhousie answers to two pieces of airspace at once — the CYYC control zone measured at about 10 km, and the Alberta Children's Hospital heliport operating about 3 km away. An operator who plans against the airport alone can put a flight path across a hospital helicopter approach without knowing it, and that is the kind of error that ends a shoot on site.

Both constraints are plotted before booking: the NAV CANADA authorisation covers the control zone, the flight plan keeps clear of the heliport approaches, and the work is delivered on the turnaround agreed at booking.

Light. Mature tree canopy means the community reads greenest in full summer; in winter, low sun and bare trees open up sightlines that the canopy hides in July.

Terrain. A mature plateau community on the shoulder of the northwest hills, with Nose Hill Park rising to the east and the ground falling south toward the valley communities.

Wind. Chinook belt. West wind crosses the community's open upper streets at strength, and Nose Hill to the east does nothing to slow a westerly.
