A film is held long enough to feel.

Brand films, property films, hospitality films and wedding films, cut for the screen they will live on. Movement has a motivation: a push-in creates intimacy, a reveal creates discovery, a locked frame creates calm. Nothing moves because a gimbal can.

Does Atom2Adam offer film production?

Yes. Film is one of five capabilities at Atom2Adam, a global creative consultancy and media agency operating from Calgary, Canada. The agency directs and produces brand films, hospitality films, property films, wedding films, campaign films and the short-form and social cuts that follow from them — planned as scenes under one creative direction, shot on the ground and from the air, and finished in post-production for every platform the film will be seen on. Production is routine across Alberta and British Columbia and travels worldwide on a client-funded basis.

What it decides. What it makes.

The judgment first, then the work that follows from it.

Decides

  • The one feeling the film exists to leave behind
  • Pace — how long a frame is held, and where the cut falls
  • The movement, and the reason for each move
  • Where sound and music sit, and where silence does
  • The screen it will live on, and the cuts that follow from it

Makes

  • Hero films for a website or a campaign
  • Property and hospitality films
  • Brand and campaign films
  • Wedding films
  • 30-second and 15-second cuts for advertising and paid placement
  • Vertical films for Reels, Shorts and stories

In scope

  • Brand films
  • Hospitality films
  • Property films
  • Wedding films
  • Campaign films
  • Short-form films
  • Social films

The craft.

What separates a good version of this work from a bad one.

  1. 01

    Every move has a motivation

A push-in creates intimacy. A reveal creates discovery. A wide aerial creates scale. A locked frame creates calm. If a move does not make one of those points it is footage, and it does not make the cut.

  2. 02

    The frame is held

The instinct in film made for phones is to cut every second. Places are not felt at that speed. A room, a landscape or a face needs long enough on screen for the viewer to arrive in it — and the film that holds is the one people remember.

  3. 03

    Sound is half the picture

A silent, beautiful film reads as a screensaver. Sound design and music direction are decided with the edit rather than added to it, so the atmosphere the frame shows is the atmosphere the viewer hears.

  4. 04

It is finished for the screen it lives on

A hero film on a website, a 15-second paid placement and a vertical story are three edits of one direction, not one file cropped three ways. Each is cut, graded and finished for where it will actually be watched.

Inside a commission.

Inside a commission the film is planned at the consultancy, shot alongside the photography and the aerial work under one colour language, and completed in post-production — editing, colour, sound and the platform adaptations. A property or hospitality film usually carries the aerial sequence within it, so the client receives one film rather than a film with drone footage in it. Every deliverable comes from the same direction, so the hero film, the short cuts and the stills read as one visual world.

Questions, answered.

What kinds of film does Atom2Adam make?

Brand films, hospitality films, property films, wedding films and campaign films, and the short-form and social cuts that follow from them — 30-second and 15-second versions, and vertical films for Reels, Shorts and stories. Each begins with a creative direction and is finished in post-production for the platform it will be seen on.

How long does a film take to make?

It depends on the scope in the written brief. The constraints that move a date are the light window, the weather at the location and the number of scenes planned. Timing is agreed at booking against the date the film is needed rather than estimated afterwards, because a launch film that arrives after the launch has lost most of its value.

Where does Atom2Adam film?

Wherever the brief needs. Production is routine across Alberta and British Columbia, available across the rest of Canada on request, and travels anywhere in the world when the client covers travel and expenses at cost — the fee covers the work. The consultancy behind the film needs no flight at all and is delivered in any time zone.

Does Atom2Adam make video?

Yes — film is the agency's word for it. Brand, hospitality, property, wedding and campaign films, and the 30-second, 15-second and vertical cuts made from them, are what a brief often calls video production. Each begins with a creative direction and is finished in post-production for the screen it will be seen on.
